When I began my research on depictions of Blacks and Africans in pre-modern Arabic Literature, I came across a passage:
“It was related that a black man came to Said ibn Musaib Radiyallahu’ anhu (A wise man too) to seek his advice and Said told him to not worry for being black and he reminded him as follows: “the best of men are three blacks whose names are: Bilal, Mahjaâ and Luqman the wise.”
